Lighting The Dark is no longer accepting clothing as a donation. We have recived huge volumes of clothing and we want to say "Thank You" to everyone who has graciously given up their clothing for the people in Haiti. We are still in desperate need for soaps and various medical supplies. Please see our Relief Project page for more information.
Lighting The Dark is a non-profit charity devoted to changing lives. It is our mission to bring safe drinking water, clothes, school supplies, and much more to Haiti and throughout the World.
Haiti Earthquake Relief Project
1.6 billion People in our world are without clean drinking water. Lighting The Dark is dedicated to changing this. We are starting in Haiti by bringing them fresh water along with clothes, shoes, sandals, and toys for children. Haiti is the only fourth world country in our hemisphere as well as the poorest. Of the total population, 50% are 18-years-old and younger. They are in great need. We are not stopping there though! From Haiti we are planning on heading to many parts of Africa with water wells, schools, orphanages, and churches. Please help us reach these areas.

WHAT we are needing to riase:
After coming back from Haiti our hearts are on fire to see things happen. We want to start showing God's love and compassion through the simple things in life. Our purpose on going to Haiti was to go and see the need. We wanted to be able to see firsthand what truly was needed by the people of Haiti. Our charity is focused on delivering to this country and we are asking for your help to do it!
Lighting The Dark has committed to provide a water well, water purifiers, school benches, homes for families, and to help with supplies to build a wall around the church and school.
Those projects may seem big but only $1.00 can give a child in Haiti water for a year. Instead of going to the store and buying a bottle of clean water save that dollar and give it to Lighting The Dark. Lighting The dark does not profit with any donations, 100% of you donation will go to help Haiti.
We are not only focused on Haiti, but we are focused on where God has called us. God has called us to Haiti for such a time as this and we want to answer his calling in a big way.
Let's join together and provide things that we have to people who don't.

OUR TEAM
First and for most, I would like to say we are Christians. Not just church attendees...we are sinners saved by God's grace and the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. As Matthew 20:28 says, "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve..." We are here to serve. Serve this world and the people in it to make it a better place and show the love of God. Lighting The Dark was started June 2009 and it is our mission to bring fresh water, clothes, school supplies and funding to build churches, orphanages and schools in Haiti and Africa.
Lighting The Dark is made up of three people. Allen Barker (Founder/CEO), Hugh Mason (Co-Founder and Vice President) and my wife Amanda Barker (CFO and Secretary). Together it is our goal to move throughout the world bringing the simple needs, that we often take for granted in our everyday life, and make it available to the areas of this world that are not as fortunate as we are. We are so excited for this charity and where it is going! Our calling is to light the darkness of this world with God's light and give hope and life back to children and adults around the world.

To start the New Year off, Lighting The Dark is doing a raffle. There will be many great prizes. The Main prize is a trip for two. We are looking for $10 donation per ticket. Dont miss out! There are over 10 prizes and one grand prize. Please use our contact page if you would like to participate.
Due to the recent events in Haiti, Lighting The Dark is turning a majority of its focus on raising funds to help rebuild and restore homes and lives. Visit our "Haiti Earthquake Relief Project" page for more information.

We are looking for many types of donations. Financial donations are of great help.
We are also looking for donations from businesses. We are in need of T-Shirts for our team. We also need brochures and other advertising needs.
